I was looking forward to Memorial Day weekend for quite some time. My glee regarding an extra day off probably paralleled that of a kid getting out of school for the summer. Special menus were planned, activities plotted, weather closely watched. We were armed and ready: golf clubs – check; kayak paddles – check; bug spray – check; sun screen – well, you get the picture.
The weekend did not disappoint. We kicked it off with dinner at Bistro Nouveau on Friday night. I had meetings all day, so I was ready for a relaxing meal, and time to catch up with my husband. While we had
some work around the house to do, we also got some kayaking in, and I hit some golf balls at the driving range on Saturday. The Golf Course Appreciation Day brought lots of folks up, and united arab emirates casino everyone enjoyed the Cupcake contest. They were out before I could get there! And the weather was perfect!
Saturday night, we took a ride to the Norwich Inn for dinner. I hadn’t been there in a long time, so I wanted to see if it was as good as it had been previously. It did not disappoint. I love the selection of restaurants in the Upper Valley. There’s a lot to choose from, not to mention the Co-Op Food Store, where I procured some soft-shell crab to cook on Sunday. YUM!
Sunday and Monday brought more excellent weather. After a long winter and a cool, rainy spring, it was truly a gift. I caught sight of some painted turtles and the loons on the lake. I read a book on the screen porch and took
a short hike around some of the neighborhoods near the house. It was a truly wonderful weekend. The only downside was that it had to come to an end.
