At the June 2015 Council meeting, Nate Lang, an 18-year-old Eastman resident, calmly made his way to the podium and was welcomed with enthusiastic applause. Like an old pro, Nate took the microphone to thank the Eastman Charitable Foundation and Eastman donors for the honor of being this year’s recipient of the ECF scholarship.

Brian Rogers bike  The 13th edition of Eastman’s USAT Sanctioned Splash, Mash & Dash Sprint Triathlon is scheduled for June 20, 2015. The adult field is limited to 220 entries comprised of individuals and teams. There are 16 age divisions for males and females, as well as Athena for females 165 pounds or more, and Clydesdale for male 220 pounds or more. Nordic Nibbles

The Nordic Nibbles event is scheduled for Sunday, January 18.  Come ski or snowshoe on beginner trails to sample delectable brunch fare prepared by local restaurants and vendors.  Nordic Nibble is a reservation-only event; sign up early to guarantee a spot as this event will sell out.  Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12, under 5 free.  Call 8634500 to reserve your spot.

Evening Ski & Snowshoe

Come and enjoy a casual ski or snowshoe along beginner trails and then enjoy  dinner.  All levels of experience are welcome.  Ski or snowshoe will start at 6 pm.  Menu to feature herb-roasted chicken; vegetarian/vegan option available with advance notice. Please arrive early if you need to rent equipment.  Reservations are required and can be made until Friday, January 2.  Dinner will be held regardless of snow conditions.  $19/person

Glow Stick Ski & Snowshoe

Wireless technology helps monitor dam

Using a weighted tape measurer has not been the most technologically advanced way to monitor the water level of Eastman Lake. But now, thanks to a partnership with Geokon of Lebanon, Eastman is moving into the 21st Century.
