$14,500 raised for David’s House

The annual Family Winter Fest and Chili Cook-off at Eastman Cross Country Center was successful in raising money for David’s House, again exceeding expectations and raising over $14,500.

The biggest moneymaker this year was The Loon Project, which brought in over $7,000 in a sealed bid auction for 24 uniquely decorated loons.

All proceeds from the event benefit David’s House, a home-away-from-home for families of children who are being treated at CHaD at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

EGL hosts NH State Amateur Championship

Eastman Golf Links will host the New Hampshire Golf Association’s 107th annual State Amateur Championship in July, a testament to the great condition of the course.

During the last several years, Eastman has installed an irrigation system and improved the course drainage. Ongoing course maintenance has continued to make great strides as well, and the result is a superb course that offers a challenge to every level of golfer.

Loon Project featured on WCAX

The new Loon Project to benefit David’s House was featured recently on WCAX Channel 3, which posted the video for everyone to see. The news story included interviews with ECA Activities Coordinator Charlie Taber and Eastman resident Al Wakefield, who is one of the artists contributing his talent to make this project a success.

Adult Splash, Mash, Dash half full!

Splash, Mash & Dash Triathlon

The adult field is half full for the eighth annual Splash, Mash and Dash Sprint Triathlon being held June 19 to benefit the Upper Valley Humane Society.

The triathlon, hosted by Eastman Community Association in Grantham, has had a full field of adult participants for the last three years. “We’re three weeks ahead of schedule,” said Triathlon Coordinator Charlie Taber. “Last year we were full in early May, but this year we may be full in mid to late April.”

“Loony” event added to Winter Fest

Eastman’s annual Family Winter Fest and Chili Cook-off to benefit David’s House will include a new event this year: The Loon Project.

The Loon Project features two dozen 16-inch, wooden loons that have been uniquely finished by local artists in the media of their choice. The loons will be unveiled during a reception beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12 at The Center at Eastman. The artisans will be available for everyone to meet, and bidding in the sealed bid process will begin.

Register now for 8th annual triathlon

The website and registration form are on-line for the eighth annual Splash, Mash and Dash Sprint Triathlon being held June 19 to benefit the Upper Valley Humane Society.

The Christmas Canticles in Eastman

The Eastmanaires, a community singing group based in Eastman, will perform “The Christmas Canticles” arranged by Benjamin Harlan, and other Christmas songs, at The Center at Eastman on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 20 at 4 p.m.

Turkey Trot benefits needy

The annual Turkey Trot Fun Run/ Walk at Eastman benefits needy families throughout the Upper Valley, providing turkey dinners for Thanksgiving and non-perishable food items for local food banks.  This year, the five-mile run and two-mile walk along Eastman Golf Links will be held on Nov. 14.
