The Turkey Trot is now Run for Pie 5K. That name even makes ME want to run!
“We have changed the name of the Turkey Trot to the Run for Pie 5K, feeling that it lends itself better to the theme we have used the last few years in giving out homemade pies to the winners,” said Eastman Events Coordinator Charlie Taber. “There are so many Turkey Trots going on, we felt this might draw more participants as well.”
But nothing else has changed. The event is still a 5K run and a 2-mile walk that is family friendly; both routes are amenable to jogging strollers. There is still a family registration, allowing for two adults and up to four of their children ages 18 and younger to walk or run, or any combination thereof. And proceeds still go to families in need in our communities.
Following the race, there is a wonderful chili and soup luncheon before the awarding of pies to the overall top three winners and age group winners of the 5K. (Timing will be done by Granite State Race Services and is sponsored by Northeast Delta Dental.)
